The Leader in Training (LIT) program is open to campers in 9th and 10th grade and serves as the foundation of Counselor In Training program at Camp Scully. Creative and engaging workshops in areas of communication, assertiveness, problem solving and decision making, conflict-resolution and leadership skills are introduced to these potential leaders. Working both independently and in team settings, LITs discover their own strengths and opportunities as future leaders in hopes that each participant promotes these skills in their community.
Specifically, each week will have a different focus. Session Focus A will spend a lot of time on all of the aspects of effective and accurate communication. Listening skills will be explored as well as focusing on understanding miscommunications and inadequate directions. Session Focus B however, will spend more time on cooperation and working with others; where we will explore different personalities, ethics and find one’s place amongst a team.
Look at our résumé building workshop sheet for a peek into some of the career-building activities we do at camp. LIT's will work with their peers on the challenge course at Camp. It's an extensive area of the forest with cunningly-devised, mental and physical obstacles that can only be solved with teamwork, cooperation and dedication.
Last year was a huge success and the participants had a great time. Some of the LIT's will graduate on to our Counselor In Training (CIT) program if they wish to be counselors one day. We are ready to continue the long history of Camp Scully and give you the opportunity to continue making your mark here at camp. Browse the website to see all that we do and of course if you are using Facebook, find us there and “like” the page.
We have income-based scholarships for this program. No family will be denied because of their inability to pay. Discover more information here.
What will you be doing at camp this year? Other than building rafts, DJing beach parties, overcoming challenges, making friends for life, being inspired, climbing ropes and wires?
